Nobody is going to help you if you first don’t choose to help yourself. Nothing will ever change if you don’t realize that you are the driving force that will make it happen. You’re not alone. People will come and go along the way and help you do some of the lifting, but the work is yours and yours alone.
It’s all up to you but we live in a culture where people have been implored to quietly wait their turn. There they are with their hand raised, hoping to be next, and so they wait, and wait, and wait.
They are waiting for something to happen. They are waiting for someone to come along and take over, or see something in them that they know is there, but something they don’t want to see themselves. This is why it is up to you.
It sounds far more imposing than it really is. It’s a lot less work than you imagine. Choosing yourself and living your life knowing that it is always up to you do execute something is a way of thinking. It would be foolish that everything depends on our action. It is simply not true. We need people. We need their resources. We need their faith and their love or else nothing happens.
But you can’t expect people to come out and lead your life for you when they have their own lives to live. You can’t expect them to care more about your talent than you do yourself. The people will come out. They will stand behind you and help you but first you must give them a reason to. First you need to recognize that it’s all up to you. You have to own your life. Stop blaming this or that, or wishing you were him or her.
It’s all up to you and it’s marvellous.
You are far more wonderful than you give yourself credit for. I’m not sure why that is. The world we live in doesn’t really embrace and help successful people. They have to break through against all odds. It is only when they have persevered the lashings and naysaying of everyone around them that we compliment them and tell they that we’ve always known that they could.
No matter what other people think and no matter what other people do, the only way to find meaning in your life is to live one. It’s up to you if you’re going to embrace change or fear it. It’s up to you if you’re going to do something about your talent. It’s up to you if you’re going to invest in yourself or other people that share your vision. It is all up to you, and there is nothing selfish about that.
This is no time for false humility. You’ve been given your life. You are surrounded by abundance of resources and infinite possibilities. All that is missing is your decision to act and to be someone you want to be.
It’s up to you and by being you, you allow everyone else to be themselves. Encourage them to walk a little taller, to dream a little bigger. It’s up to you to start something and to inspire someone else to start something too.
