Welcome to November 1st!
A new day of the month but the last day of the week. A bit of a contradiction or juxtaposition if you will but I guess its all a matter what story we want to tell ourselves about today. Is this the beginning of something or a continuation perhaps?
Yesterday I gave a great lesson at school. It at least seemed great because all eyes were on me, nobody was on their phone and there was deafening silence. I asked my students a very loaded question – if not now, when? When is the right time to do what we know we should be doing anyway? I let that hang for a while and told them that most people often respond with tomorrow and I asked them what tomorrow? The most immediate tomorrow of Saturday or perhaps Sunday? Will it be near the end of November or perhaps after Christmas?
That’s the problem about tomorrow. Unless we put a date on something and a time, it is often yet another excuse or mismanaged attempt at living our dreams.
I’m curious to see if there are themes running throughout these little journal entries. If there are, I believe this is one of them. The idea of seizing time. Living in the moment and planning and purposefully moving forward.
What’s on the agenda today?
Not the things that have to get done anyway, but what are you doing for yourself? It’s not selfish. We all have a life for a reason and if we don’t live it, we will never have a second chance.
So what’s on the agenda today and tomorrow?
