There is no time to do anything. Never enough time. Everything moves so fast. There are so many things to do and so many deadlines, but thats only because we place value on the wrong thing. We treat time like its a tool, a thing, a commodity to be used and abused.

Time doesn’t exist. Even the rotation of the earth doesn’t cooperate with our need to control things, and spills over once every four years in leap year.

We hide behind our words. When we say we have no time, really means the we have committed ourselves to things that are not important. We have spent time with people that don’t mean much to us. We spent too much time making sure something is perfect when it will be all but forgotten.

Ever notice how clean the house becomes when you are going away or putting it up for sale? What the hell happens the rest of the time? Why don’t we take the time to do what we want to do. It’s because we tell ourselves we don’t have time.

We have time.

You decide what you’re going to do every day. You maybe dragging your ass because you drank too much the night before. Suck it up. That’s your choice. I make no judgement, but you cannot prepare and do one thing, and expect something else. That would make our world a careless and crazy place to live.

You have time.

You make your own time.

You have time to say no to people who don’t like you. You have time to tell your boss that you are not staying late today. You have time to find another job if you get fired. You have time to write your novel. You have time to be silly and do absolutely nothing. You have time to visit your aged and lonely grandmother. You have time to play with your kids. You have time to prepare your meals.

You always have time.

You have as much time as you want.

Except you are too quick to just give it away.

The problem is not time. The real problem is us.

Our problem is saying no, or dropping things when we are at a dead end. Ever wonder why you have to finish a really terrible novel so that you can say that you finished it? Ever wonder why you have to vote, or else you don’t have the right to complain? I know the answers. You don’t have to bother repeating them. I just want you to wonder why.

What would happen if you stopped reading and did something else. I don’t mean that you should be chasing one shiny object after another, spinning your life out of control, but you are given a tasteless piece of cheesecake to eat, why follow through, and absorb all the calories. That makes little sense.

There is plenty of time

You have plenty of time to do anything and everything you want.

You just have to want it. You have to carve out the time to do it. You have to say no to a thousand things that would also be most satisfying.

Make a choice.

There is time.

Plenty of time.

The rest is up to you.
