I found myself sitting at a marketing meeting at the Northumberland Players home at the old Fire House in Cobourg. Several times I wondered to myself (silently) what the heck I was doing there? How did it come about that I was asked and ultimately said yes to helping with the photography for the play Chicago.
I am extremely flattered that my work of seven years ago for Cabaret was remembered and that this opportunity has presented itself. Life has a funny way of showing you opportunities. We don’t get to choose what opportunities present themselves to us. We only get to choose if we take them or not. The marvellous thing of course we have no idea what strings they are connected to and what magical things come our way as a result.
I have a strange feeling that this is where I am supposed to be and this is what I am supposed to be doing. The studio I sub-leased this year was a rabbit hole. A sink hole really. It has turned out to be a sunk cost that I’m happy to say I am now officially over. I guess sunk costs can’t be helped. Not every opportunity that presents itself is going to lead to success but even those are connected to the successful ones. I don’t think I would be doing the things I am doing with my photography today if I didn’t make some bad decisions in the past.
Thats the wonderful thing about decisions. They can be corrected if we make the wrong ones. I’m not talking morals here, just chasing our dreams.
So I’m all in on the play Chicago. I have been connected to a wonderful graphic designer who lives in NYC and a wonderful marketing/web person who lives in town. I think Chicago is a wonderful way of people in the area to find out what I do and how good I am at it.
I can’t wait to get started. Headshots, candids and performance photos. I am even planning on doing a boudoir shoot right on the stage if I have a volunteer or two.
Stay tuned for the photos. They are coming.
