Playing timid won’t get you anywhere. You don’t have to be a douche about things, but playing shy has never gotten anyone anywhere.
Timidity is a a decision. A decision you made a long time ago as a child and a script you have been playing out each and every day. It’s like an invisible electric fence. Zapping your efforts and forcing you back when the going gets tough.
Why do you care so much what other people think? Why do you think this is stupid? That this will never work? That people will not understand? That you might not be good enough?
It’s not that you are thinking those things that will be your undoing, but rather the fact that you are too timid to push through them that’s the real problem.
You can’t play timid. You were not put on earth to serve and say that life is just ok. You were not meant to slave away the best years of your life for a promise of a retirement which might never come. Not the way you envision anyway.
So do all you must to break your timidity. Do everything in your power to shake of your comfortable feelings of shyness and never say ‘I can’t do that” again.
Shyness in small children is cute and adorable, but in an adult who is not living with gusto it’s simply very sad. Sad because you know more than a child. You’ve lived more. You’ve explored more and so when you sit down and claim you have nothing worthy to contribute to the rest of us, you are arrogantly pulling yourself away from doing something wonderful.
Being human is not a death sentence. It is not a tragedy that is lived out in our daily lives. Being human is a beautiful gift. It is a chance to go out each and every day and embrace the whole of existence.
You have to change your timid ways.
Make a list of what you would really love but are too scared or to conservatively reserved to pursue. Make the list first and let it just lay there for a few days. Once you’ve forgotten what is on it, pick it up again, and begin to work on it. Forget how you feel. Forget what it will feel like. Let go and have the courage to do which you know deep down in your heart you should do.
You will be happier.
You will wake up each and every morning with a bit more spring in your step. That spring will be because you have a reason to wake up in the morning. You have a purpose and are pursuing a meaningful existence. One that is not filled with timidity but tremendous courage.
Find your inner courage to start something today. Start a little riot. Pick a fight with all of your complexities. Pin them down and imagine what life could be if you didn’t sit back and actually went out and lived out what you promised yourself you would live out.
Don’t play timid.
It doesn’t serve you and it certainly robs us of you.
