Yesterday I cancelled going to Toastmasters and instead I stayed home and rested. I wasn’t physically tired but mentally. Instead of risking crashing or making rash decisions I thought it would be best to take a deep breath and slow down because the pace of my life seems to be very steady.
I’ve got a few things going on and I’m not complaining about any of it. The things that are going on are all good. For starters I am knee deep in school work at my high school and parent teacher interviews are coming up in two weeks. There are 100 essays waiting to be read and early next week I need to make them a priority.
This weekend I am promoting a polish hip hop act in Toronto which is not difficult per se but has consumed the last two weeks of my life with details that need to be taken care of.
Add to this the photography business I am trying to grow, and the cast of Chicago meetings I have attended and am blessed to be involved with.
Somewhere in all of this we have to drive my son to hockey five times a week and spend time with my daughter at the horse farm twice a week. There are of course dinners to make. General housekeeping maintenance items to get to as fall and winter approaches.
Man. I don’t like to use the word busy because it is too often used as an excuse not to do something, but I am involved in a few wonderful things in my life.
Oh, there is also book two and three of Quintessential Quotable I need to edit. Not to mention the Double Q podcast I am trying to launch.
Did I mention I manage a polish hip hop artist as well? Thankfully I don’t have to perform or do any of the creative stuff.
I needed a break last night. A night to unplug and forget that the world exists and I think we all need that once in a while. There is no telling how often or when a night like that is needed but I hope you take care of yourself as well. No matter what is going on in your life. Nothing is more important than your peace and happiness.
Take a little break. The world will still be there when you return but your health. That is one thing that won’t look after itself if you don’t look after it on a regular basis.
